Do you have broken or damaged household items that could use some fixing?

Volunteers from the Burlington Repair Cafe team are offering to repair small appliances and electronics — such as fans, lamps, toasters, vacuum cleaners, and toys and other mechanical items — to keep them in your home and off landfill sites.

The group of handy people will be hosting an outreach event on Saturday, Sept. 16, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Oakville Place, in the centre court, 240 Leighland Ave.

Interested residents are expected to bring the item, watch and learn as the item is repaired and take it home. The service in most cases is offered for free. Excluded from the service are computers, TVs, cellphones, lawn mowers and similar items.

It’s encouraged to email [email protected] with information about the item in advance so that the team of fixers can prepare.
