FLINT TWP, MI — Walmart customers in Flint Township were welcomed inside the transformed Supercenter at 4313 Corunna Road Friday, Aug. 4, as the anticipated project is complete.

Representatives of the Flint Genesee Chamber of Commerce along with Mayor Sheldon Neely, Flint Fire Chief Tyrone Wiggins, Flint Township Police Chief Kevin Salter and city of Flint Police Chief Terence Green, joined Walmart managers and associates to mark the occasion with a community celebration.

Several associates who have been with the Flint store since it opened in 1993 were recognized and asked to cut the ribbon to ceremoniously re-open the store.

“For 30 years we have been proud to serve the residents and families of Flint, and we are very excited to invite the community to join in the celebration and to see all the improvements,” Walmart store manager Anthony Sanders said in a statement. “We’re also excited because the upgrades that were made to our store will not only offer our customers a fresh new look, but the innovations will enhance their overall shopping experience.”

Some of the renovations, according to the news release, included:

The store also revealed a new mural part of Walmart’s community mural program, the largest public-facing art installation celebrating communities across America.

Flint-area recording artist Prince Marc Jakob and the Hamady High School marching band provided entertainment during the event.
