China (638K tons) remains the largest wood kitchenware and tableware producing country worldwide, accounting for 59% of total volume. Moreover, wood kitchenware and tableware production in China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, India (71K tons), ninefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Russia (51K tons), with a 4.7% share.

In China, wood kitchenware and tableware production increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the period from 2013-2024. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: India (+1.5% per year) and Russia (+4.7% per year).

In 2024, the amount of tableware and kitchenware of wood imported worldwide expanded sharply to 673K tons, picking up by 9.6% compared with 2023 figures. In general, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2013 to 2024: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2024 figures, imports decreased by -0.1% against 2022 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 25%. Global imports peaked at 673K tons in 2022; however, from 2023 to 2024, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, wood kitchenware and tableware imports expanded slightly to $2.1B in 2024. Overall, imports saw a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 39%. Global imports peaked at $2.5B in 2022; however, from 2023 to 2024, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The United States (114K tons) and Japan (104K tons) represented the major importers of tableware and kitchenware of wood in 2024, amounting to near 17% and 15% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Taiwan (Chinese) (31K tons) and Germany (31K tons), together creating a 9.2% share of total imports. The following importers - South Korea (30K tons), France (24K tons), the Philippines (24K tons), the Netherlands (24K tons), India (23K tons) and the UK (22K tons) - together made up 22% of total imports.

From 2013 to 2024, the biggest increases were recorded for India (with a CAGR of +42.8%), while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States ($426M), Japan ($262M) and Germany ($140M) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2024, with a combined 39% share of global imports. France, the Netherlands, the UK, South Korea, Taiwan (Chinese), the Philippines and India lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 21%.

In terms of the main importing countries, India, with a CAGR of +31.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average wood kitchenware and tableware import price stood at $3,189 per ton in 2024, reducing by -6.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 11%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,725 per ton in 2022; however, from 2023 to 2024, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($4,570 per ton), while Taiwan (Chinese) ($855 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2024, approx. 651K tons of tableware and kitchenware of wood were exported worldwide; surging by 7.5% on 2023. In general, exports showed buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 88%. The global exports peaked in 2024 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, wood kitchenware and tableware exports stood at $2.2B in 2024. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 44%. Over the period under review, the global exports reached the peak figure at $2.4B in 2022; however, from 2023 to 2024, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

China dominates exports structure, finishing at 485K tons, which was near 74% of total exports in 2024. It was distantly followed by Vietnam (37K tons), creating a 5.7% share of total exports. Russia (26K tons), India (14K tons) and the Netherlands (11K tons) took a little share of total exports.

From 2013 to 2024, average annual rates of growth with regard to wood kitchenware and tableware exports from China stood at +7.1%. At the same time, India (+18.0%), Russia (+10.1%), the Netherlands (+7.9%) and Vietnam (+7.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +18.0% from 2013-2024. From 2013 to 2024, the share of China increased by +2.4 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($1.4B) remains the largest wood kitchenware and tableware supplier worldwide, comprising 64% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Vietnam ($101M), with a 4.7% share of global exports. It was followed by India, with a 3.2% share.

From 2013 to 2024, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China stood at +9.6%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Vietnam (+7.8% per year) and India (+22.2% per year).

In 2024, the average wood kitchenware and tableware export price amounted to $3,304 per ton, reducing by -6.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated modest growth from 2013 to 2024: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2024 figures, wood kitchenware and tableware export price decreased by -14.0% against 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 89% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $5,513 per ton. From 2017 to 2024, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2024, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($5,921 per ton), while Russia ($714 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
